Walk or Bike down to Oakhurst for Spring Jazz Nights

http://www.oakhurstjazznights.com/
Time for Spring Jazz Nights
7 pm, Thursday, April 9th, 16th, 23rd, & 30th

Jazz Nights are here yet again! For those of you acquainted with this Oakhurst tradition, we hope you will return for more good times. And for those of you who have never been to Jazz Nights, now is your chance to enjoy Oakhurst's own blend of cool jazz combined with warming springtime weather and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere.

The music starts the last four Thursday nights in April: 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th at 7pm, although the Scottish Rite courtyard is often alive with activity before the shows even begin.

Whether you prefer to relax on a blanket in the courtyard or perhaps even reserve a table complete with fresh, white linens and a Bloom Floral Design centerpiece, there are many ways to enjoy the evening. Each table seats up to four and may be reserved for $25 per table per evening - a great way to assure a front-row view. In the event of inclement weather, don't let the rain spoil your plans!

The Solarium at Scottish Rite, 321 West Hill St., provides shelter in high style for an intimate indoor concert experience which should not be missed. As is our tradition, our spring performance schedule represents a mixture of popular Jazz Nights veterans and exciting new talent.

Our concert series opens April 9th with the Terry Harper Quartet. Terry has been performing as a pianist and vocalist for over 25 years. Her credits are broad, including solo Jazz, Christmas collaborations, feature film and documentary appearances.

Next on April 16th, Nicole Chillemi, always the Oakhurst favorite, will return to entertain us with her pure, soulful, smooth soprano renditions of jazz standards.

On the 23rd, Will Scruggs Jazz Fellowship will evoke classic "jump-tune romps and horn-powered funk" combined with tight rhythms - a show that will appeal to traditional jazz, R&B, blues, and reggae devotees.

And finally, on the 30th, Bonaventure Quartet makes their Jazz Nights debut, bringing Oakhurst their blend of Southern gypsy-jazz style guitar combined with sultry, smooth lyrics - a melting pot of Jazz talent.

Jazz Nights remains a FREE community concert series thanks to the generous support of our local sponsors: Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters, Bloom Floral Design, Decatur Downtown Development Authority, DoubleDome Web Technologies, Kavarna, Oakhurst Business Association, Oakhurst Cleaners, Oakhurst Neighborhood Association, Pinnacle Custom Builders, Progressive Redevelopment Incorporated, and The Community Center of South Decatur. We are so very grateful to all of our sponsors for supporting this Oakhurst event. For table reservations and more detailed information, please visit our website at www.oakhurstjazznights.com.
