An important and timely health and wellness conference “Good Health Is Everyone’s Business” is being held Tuesday, Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Georgia Bar Building on Marietta Street at Spring Street.


Presented by the Atlanta Regional Health Forum (www.arhf.net) and the Georgia Association for Black Women Attorneys, the conference will welcome Roderick Bremby, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, who is leading his state to become the “Healthiest State in the Nation.” Bremby will challenge the Atlanta Region to become healthier.


The conference will also feature Charles Taylor, MD, speaking on “Making our Nation Healthy Again.” He is a primary care physician with Perimeter North Family Medicine and Medical Director of the Taylor-High Preventive Medicine Clinic in Atlanta and has served as medical advisor for several Fortune 500 Corporations.


Terri Forman currently manages a $32 million employee benefit program for a major automotive supplier. She developed a nationally recognized employee health improvement program resulting in a 20% reduction in health care costs and authored the award-winning article Closing the Competitive Gap. The pilot site for this program was in Cartersville, Georgia. She will speak on “Successful Disease Prevention at Work.”


Founder and CEO of MBS Wellness, Maiysha Clairborne, MD, is an integrative wellness consultant. With nearly a decade of experience, she focuses on creating and preserving mental, physical, and spiritual balance to promote and maintain optimal health through the integration of western medicine with alternative therapies such as acupuncture, energy medicine, clinical nutrition and wellness coaching. She has published three books: Live Well for Me, Eat Your Disease Away and Life on Your Terms: 7 Steps to a more Empowered You.


Dr. Elizabeth Ford will preside and presenters include Ronald Bachman, Jessica Hill, Donna Looper, Michael Sells, Tim Sweeney,and several other leading health leaders.


The conference will also offer information on new laws on mental health parity, tort reform and health information technology. Consumers are encouraged to voice concerns and to learn about free and low-cost health resources.
